Are Wedding Fairs Worth Your Time?
For the wedding industry and couples getting ready to tie the knot, wedding fairs are a big deal every year! As a wedding photographer in Dublin, couples often ask me if the local wedding fairs are worth checking out.
When it comes to wedding fairs, I’d highly recommend visiting at least one or two. To maximize your time, however, it is essential to arrive at every event with a strategy.

Here’s everything that you need to know about getting the most out of your next wedding fair.
What to Do Before a Wedding Fair
To maximise the time that you spend at a bridal fair, come ready for a long day out! Bring an oversized bag that you can fill up with goodies. Wedding fair vendors have giveaways and brochures that you’ll definitely want to grab and take home.
You will be on your feet all day so wear comfortable walking shoes. A lot of wedding fairs have dresses to try on so wear clothes that are easy to change in and out of. And be sure to bring heels similar to what you’ll wear to the wedding! This will give you a better impression of how each dress would potentially look.

As a privately owned estate, Luttrellstown Castle Resort offers what so few other venues can: a bespoke experience, set off by the most stunning backdrop imaginable. The Castle offers 12 beautifully appointed bedrooms (20 from April 2020), an impressive library and two breathtaking ballrooms.
The Van Stry accommodates up to 120 guests, while the Kentian can accommodate an additional 60. Both will be set for a wedding party, so you can visualise your own very special day.
At Luttrellstown, we pride ourselves on the quality of the food prepared and presented by our excellent culinary team. You can also look forward to sampling some specially prepared canapés and mini desserts, little tasters of what's to come.

Make It a Fun Day Out
It’s good to bring someone with you to a wedding fair. Some couples go together, while other brides prefer to make it a girls’ day out. Consider bringing your mum, maid of honour, or possibly your future mother in law.
Ultimately, your approach is totally up to you. You know if you are best as a solo operator or with team support. You might also want to consider going to a couple of different wedding fairs and different bringing people to each one. For example, a lot of brides go to the first one with their girlfriends to get inspired, then when they are ready to start making decisions, they bring the groom.
Come Organised
It’s essential to start with a plan. Organising a wedding is so much work (check out my ultimate wedding planning checklist to make life easier here) and there will definitely be times when you feel overwhelmed with information and to-do lists. Here are some ways to make a wedding fair as useful and low stress as possible.
Print address labels: One thing that saves a ton of time is printing out the name and address labels. They don’t have to be great quality or pricey but just a quick printout on sticky labels (you can find these at any office supply store) with your address and phone number. You’ll find a lot of info request forms and contest entries at every bridal fair and have these labels will make it all easier and faster.
Come ready to pay: Bring cash, and cheques if you have them. If you fall in love at the wedding fair, you might want to just pay the deposit then and there. While a lot of bridal fair vendors have credit card facilities, it is best to come prepared.
Come early: Above all else, it is good to arrive early. A lot of wedding fair vendors have giveaways, special offers, and contents that can be great for early birds.
Use your phone: Flyers and brochures are handy, but it’s best to go digital here. Take pictures of things that you love. Even just taking pictures of business cards next to their respective wedding fair vendor booth can be really helpful to trigger your memory. Trust me, when you get home with a bag full of business cards, flyers, and brochures, it is going to be hard to remember every detail. Take as many photos, and even videos, as you can to help you organise it all.

If you are thinking about tying the knot in County Tipperary, you have got to add the Cloughjordan House Wedding Showcase to your to-do list.
