My Photography Gear & Guide for equipment investment in 2020
I'm frequently asked what is the best camera for photography or which equipment I use and how do I create my image? This is actually two of the most common questions I've always being asked along the way and as I would love to answer every single one which is impossible doing it one by one, so I decided to create this post to share the photography gear, software I use, also the books and online training I've bought to became the photographer I'm today.
I'm a Nikon guy but that is not because is the best camera brand out there, it's only because was the brand I've started and I decided to stick with it because I loved and invested a lot of money on it. Don't worry if you are a Canon, Fuji and Sony shooter, I thought about you too and I will recommend equivalent gear in pair with what I use from Nikon, ok.
Everybody knows that photography equipment is not cheap and it's extremely hard to decide which one to go for, we always have thousands of doubts about many things such as quality, durability, sharpness, low light capability, focus speed, accuracy, etc... not counting the amount of accessories options we have available today. I personally have spent over €60.000 in photography stuff, so to help you make your final decision without spending that amount of money, I created this article as a guide for beginners that are starting out and also for professionals that are planning to upgrade gear or switch brand. Here you will find the best photography equipment I end up using after 7 years of career.
Since I started my photography career back in 2011 I've spent thousands and thousands of Euros in photographic equipment, accessories, courses, books, software, etc... and many of them I didn't like, haven't used much or haven't used at all, it was a waste of time researching on the internet and a lot of money spent for no reason. Following my advice, you will save time, money and won't be frustrated and disappointed as I was many times. Along the article, I will also unveil the books, courses, software, apps, and suppliers I use and highly recommend.
Another frequent question I receive is. Where do I buy my equipment? The answer is simple AMAZON! But Bruno, do amazon give any warranty? Yes, they certainly do! If any item you buy from Amazon is damaged or you don't like it, they have a refund policy of 30 days, although I only needed to used once and I have to say they were super fast. Amazon is one of the cheapest and most reliable options you will find out there. I Usually save from 20 to 35% compared with a physical store.
Many photographers don't like to share their equipment (gear) secrets and courses they have done, so I'm here to help you with that, as I wish I've had someone to help me along my journey which would have made much easier. You will probably need to come back here to see some information again so I would recommend you to bookmark (save) this page so you can have quick access at any time you may need in the future. I will keep updating this page as soon as I update my gear, so keep ;)
As it is a lot of information, I've split into categories to make it easier for you, ok.
Please see the table of content below:

Let's start with the accessories I use to create the images you see on my website. Are you ready to discover my secrets?
This is a photo of my Gear back in 2015, since then I've sold most of it and so today I carry less weight and I have a cheaper equipment. The questions are. Did the quality of my images decreased or do I have limitations with my new and cheaper gear? Not at all I guarantee!
1) ACCESSORIES
Job Gorillapod 3K
Let me start with one of my favourite tools. This is the most flexible and portable tripod I’ve ever seen and I use it alongside with my flash, OFF flash camera to be more specific, I wouldn’t be able to be as much creative with lighting without this guy. It’s always on my camera bag and I also bring it to my personal trips so I can attach my camera to almost anything allowing me to create awesome and weird images of me and my misses too. It holds up to 3 Kilos so you will be able to use with pretty much every piece of gear you may have. If you can buy only one item on my list I would highly recommend this one then.

This is another important lighting tool if I need to get off flash camera light from up high during a photo session or the first dance. I also use this monopod to shoot with my camera on timer hold up high, trust me you can get awesome images doing this.

Manfrotto Arm with Anti-rotation Attach and Nano Clamp
This guy here I use a lot during the Bride/Groom getting ready as the Gorillapod is too big and not as good as this is to clamp your flash on tables, corners, edges etc… This is my number one tool for off flash camera indoor.

16 Slot/Bay AA/AAA Smart Battery Charger
I survived for 2 years charging my batteries with only one charger with 4 batteries each time, it took ages and I had to start charging the batteries sometimes 2 days before the event. Don’t let yourself get stressed and worried while charging your batteries. Since I bought this all that problem was solved so go for it.
I will tell you which batteries I use later on besides My Lighting Gear, ok.

Blackrapid Double Camera Strap
Wedding photographers need a backup camera that’s is standard, and to carry 2 cameras for 8 - 10 hours job is not an easy thing to do, but with this strap, you will forget about the cameras, it’s super comfortable, a must have! I used it for 3 years and only switched to HoldFast because is fancier but much more expensive though, but either one will do the job.

CAMERA
I own a Nikon D3s but Instead, I would buy the D850 today
For years the D3s was by far the best camera I could have to photograph a wedding, it has an awesome ISO capability and awesome focus speed/accuracy which are the main things for a wedding photographer. With the speed of technology we have much better camera these days and as you won't be able to find a brand new D3s out there, the camera I highly recommend instead if you are a Nikon shooter is the D850, today is by far the best wedding camera you could buy, it's just outstanding.

LENSES
Nikon 35mm f2
This is my main lens, 60 to 65% of my wedding images were shot with it If you are on a tight budget this is the best lens you could ever buy, it's super light and has great quality. This is the only lens I bring to my personal trips too. There is no need to buy those expensive F1.4 lenses, they are heavy and if you break it it's almost if not over €2000 in the bin, so think about it.
Click HERE to find the latest price!
Nikon 85mm 1.8G
I used to own the 85mm 1.4G it is an awesome lens but after much thought I've decided to try a lighter and cheaper equipment, I sold all my F1.4 lenses, and now I own the 85mm 1.8G which is incredibly good and I can't see the difference, unless if I get to compare the images side by side and analyze it, but nobody does that, so I highly recommend the 85mm 1.8, it's almost 70% cheaper then the 1.4 and I'm super happy with it.
Click HERE to find the latest price!
Nikon 14mm 2.8
I always need a wider lens and that's why I bought the 14mm. I don't use as much as the 35 and 85 but I use in every single wedding and it has saved me many times on super tight wedding ceremony rooms, also for indoor group shots. I always try this lens on the dance floor, it works really well. Alternatively, I recommend the Rokinon which is way cheaper and does the same job.

Nikon 50mm 1.4G
This was the first lens I bought back in 2010 and I love it. It's is my backup lens but many times I use it to diversify the way I photograph and to make my brain see differently other than just shoot with the 85mm all the time. I love this lens! A cheaper alternative is the 50mm 1.8G and I highly recommend, it's an awesome lens and to be honest, it focuses faster than the 1.4 I have.Click HERE to find the latest price!

We wedding photographers have so many tasks to be done and our time is very limited so after suffering for many Years overloaded with thousands of images to select and edit I came up with an awesome idea called SPEEDUPFLOW a post-production ''photo editing service for professionals'' that makes the photographer life easier! We basically offer you the freedom to focus on your work, get new jobs and enjoy life with family and friends. How do we do it? You shoot and we edit, we select your best images, we work the colour correction, cropping and much more, giving the best impact and value to your images. Shoot more and let us take care of the rest. What do you think? I would love to give you a voucher for 35% OFF for all order (unlimited) valid for 2 months. You can save a lot of money and get your time back!

Stella Pro 500 light
No doubt that this is the best light out there for wedding photographers, it's waterproof, the battery is excellent and you can shape and control the colour and intensity of the light as no other. I'm planning to buy one very soon.

Nikon 28mm 1.8G
The 24mm 1.4G used to be my main lens for weddings but after a while I found it too wide and I switched to 35mm f2, but now after almost 3 years shooting with the 35mm I've decided to go back to something wider and my choice is the 28mm 1.8G, can't wait to put my hand on this lens.
